The unique design of the Nanning Bridge considers aesthetics, performance, constructability, and economy. The bridge
form provides a funicular through-arch to support a curved span. The arch ribs and deck girder balance each other’s
weight to provide a structure both of rational and efficient.
The design is validated by extensive engineering studies addressing overall static and dynamic system performance,
construction stage, and the strength and serviceability requirements of the structural components. The resulting
structure can be described as a daring but rational concept, supported by prudent engineering and construction
execution. The bridge was opened to traffic on September, 2009.
